Centro de Cultura Digital is a government instance of the Ministry of Culture. Its main focus is to give the general public digital culture experiences. It's cultural activities range from digital art exhibitions, film screenings,  concerts and workshops that teach simple things like how to open up an email account or more complex ones like building a robot or learning how to use an arduino.

ROLE

Web Laboratory Director, UI/UX, Front-End Development

RESPONSIBILITIES

I was in charge of the Web laboratory for four years and during this period I worked in a wide range of projects. My favourite ones are the main website, an e-literature platform, several of its digital-art pieces, and a concept that never came to life called Comunidad.  It was a very interesting time in which I had all the freedom I wanted to explore design, coding and new possibilities in the digital world.

I led a 4 people team. Two back-end developers and two web designers / front end developers.

COMUNIDAD CCD

The coolest thing about working here was that every year you had to come up with three new ideas for projects that you wanted to work in during the following year. This was the winner idea of one year.

This project was the most ambitious one of my whole experience working at CCD.

The community that went to CCD didn't have a place to share what they were learning or a place where they could connect with all the community that surrounded the project.

The proposal:  Create a social network for the whole community. A place where students and teachers could share their projects and even sell things/services via the platform. In a nutshell "A network with opportunities for work and continuining education for all the members of the community".

The challenge was to design a social network application where users could create profiles, have a feed where they could post their work and get news from the center and the people they followed. They could also showcase their work in a beautiful way (create an online portfolio) and generate a community around their project. Discover people and projects. They could also have an agenda with reminders and a bookmarks section where they could save content they found interesting.

Teachers could create forum disscussions with students and their workshop content would be accessible to people living in other cities.

Regretfully the budget was cut and the project was sacrificed.

Here are some of the final product designs.
